From a young age she wanted to be a writer, writing as a hobby for many years; her poetry has been published in DU Foothills Magazine. Kayla switched her focus to editing after graduating, working on Upwork as a freelance editor as well as for Light of the Moon, Inc. In 2021, Kayla was a judge for the Page Turner Awards, which involved evaluating over 1,400 international submissions across all genres.
